Mama’s hair was long and white.
Mama’s dress was, too.
Mama’s eyes were blue as blue
And everybody knew
If you were doing something right,
She was watching you.

Daddy cries sometimes at night,
Never while it’s day.
Mama turned into a wraith
On a foggy day.
Daddy always holds me tight,
Never lets me stray.

Foggy hands tug at my hair,
Water claims my skin.
Outside isn’t safe for me
When the weather’s grim.
Rain pounds on my window sill.
Don’t let Mama in.
